Anxiety – Tricks You Need to Know
Hello, beautiful souls!🌌
The introduction part will be short today. I’ve recently found some new tricks to deal with anxiety, and I wanted to share them with you. I hope this helps. 🤗
Here is an example I made:
Take a pen and paper. Write down your thoughts. Try to create a mind map. Just like in my example, start from the problem. In our case, anxiety. What makes you anxious? Write all the facts down. Then try to find at least one solution/reason not to worry.🌟
Anxiety ⇒ What makes me anxious? ⇒ Public speaking ⇒ Reasons not to worry:
- It’s just a presentation.
- I am well-prepared so I will go there and give my best shot.
- My classmates don’t know more than me, probably.
- And IF I make mistakes, that’s part of learning. No one’s perfect, after all.
Find your anchor
I’ve always been an introvert, but I’ve reached a point in life where I’m quite happy the way I am. I do appreciate myself for everything that makes me… me. I love my good sides and I even appreciate the moments when I can’t make myself proud, because those are opportunities to learn.💓
But labeling yourself (just like I did) is wrong, especially when dealing with social anxiety. 😬 If you constantly tell yourself that you are just shy and not good enough, well… I don’t believe you. 🙃 My point is that calling yourself names is a mistake. This keeps you stuck in the present moment.
When emotions become overwhelming and you can’t take it anymore, find your anchor. 💓 An anchor could be anything – the person you’d like to become, a goal you have in mind, little improvement you could do, a future happy moment.✨
I am so shy. What can I do to feel more confident? Who inspires me? What do I need to work on? What would make me feel more conformable to talk? I failed today. Where did I go wrong? What should I do next time? On what do I need to work more?
In most contexts, smiles do wonders. After watching a video, I became more aware of my resting face – which looks arrogant/ too serious on most days. 😬 So I’m working on it. Lol. How does a smile help? Firstly, it’s the way others see you. I personally don’t want to be perceived as arrogant. Secondly, you transmit your body good vibes – cause obviously you’re not in danger if you smile. 😊 Therefore, there is less space for anxiety to occur. There’s a whole science behind this theory – that your facial expression influences your body chemistry, but I’m just mentioning the gist, since I don’t know the exact facts.😅
Just smile and send positive energy throughout your body. Plus, smiling makes you look more confident.😉
This is not about height. Your height is completely fine. But notice your body posture. Do you express your anxiety physically? Find your way out. Stretch your back, shoulders back, breathe in, breathe out. 🌟Go somwhere private and shake it off, if that helps. Try to notice whenever your body changes its position in certain situations, and go back to standing tall. Take examples from the people you admire. The standing tall position gives you the feeling of power and it boosts your confidence.✨
Did you know there are courses online to help you with anxiety? 🤔 If you don’t want to see a therapist, then online courses might be your solution. On www.udemy.com, you find plenty. Some of them are for free. 🙌 Just search for the keyword: anxiety.
I normally leave a question at the end of the article, but this time, I just want to add one VERY IMPORTANT thing: You are not defined by anxiety. So please don’t feed your mind constant lies. Take good care of you and always celebrate the little victories, no matter how tiny! ✨
