Whenever I watch an introverts related video – and they are a lot lately – I like going through the comments. I’ve noticed that many people mention daydreaming. They ask how to stop it and start being productive.
Before sharing my own thoughts and ideas on how to find the productive side of your daydream, I feel the need to say that this is not something to run away from. I don’t think I’ve ever tried to fight against my imagination.
✨ What would I be without it?
✨ How would I know what I want to become if it wasn’t for my dreams?
Instead of pushing my daydreaming state away, I embraced it and made the best out of it.
🌌 First Thing in the Morning
If you take some moments to reflect on your day and decide the things you would like to do, nothing can stop you. You just need to have a clear image of where you what to get and what you want to achieve. Write the steps down if that helps. Also, do something for your health: stretch, go jogging, write a list of the things that you are grateful for, drink water. I always get more enthusiastic and awake if I feel fresh.
🌌 Lost in a Daydream
Whenever I start daydreaming, it’s usually something I want to share with the world. A simple thought becoming a complex inner monologue. So I take a notebook or open my laptop and start typing. There is no benefit for me if I keep it locked inside my head. But if I write it down and then hit publish, hopefully it will inspire at least one person. More than that, if I pour my heart out onto a sheet of paper, I feel relieved. Cause now there’s nothing to think about – until the next neverending thought, lol.
It doesn’t have to be writing. It could be any kind of art. Or not really. It could be a day out enjoying life if that’s what you dream of. This might still seem like a waste of time, but it’s making you feel refreshed and relieved so IT IS productive. 🙂
I don’t just listen to music. I dive deep down into the hidden meanings and I become the sounds that I listen to. 😂 (TRUE STORY) So it’s important for me to make sure that one more song means ONE more song. Whenever I can’t push that pause button, I adopt a different strategy: I only listen to the songs that make me feel productive and give me the energetic boost I need to go through the tasks. Find what moves you. Make your playlist.
When you have so many dreams, which one do you follow?
Well, your heart knows the answer. There has to be a constant dream. One you’ve had for years and every time you think of it, you get a glimpse of happiness. That’s the one you should follow passionately. And you can’t go wrong with that.
🌌 Your Gift
You already have a rich imagination and that’s a gift. But maybe you don’t feel productive unless you’re getting paid. If so, ask yourself: What would be the best domain for you to use your creative powers? Designing? Writing? Painting? Even if you don’t have all the skills, you can learn anything online. All that matters is your passion. It should be enough to keep your motivation up.
🌌 Trust Your Instinct
Tell me if that’s only me, but I’ve sometimes felt trapped between my high hopes and what others think of reality. Others ‘opinions on having “a normal life” is what stops many introverts from following their inner instinct and trusting their vivid dreams. Yet, they can’t help daydreaming.
Well, I think YOU, the person reading this, have your own way in life. I’ll quote Eden, one of my favourite singers, because this line is perfect here: “I can be my own kind.”
And you can be yours.
Remember: Every great invention there was once just a dream. So don’t fight against your power. Use its essence.
What’s your dream? 🦄
